NAIOP CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE

The Mortgage Backed Securities: Understanding What Happened and Why (CE Approved)

This course will help you understand the Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) market, why it was set up the way it was, how it was supposed to work, and how it took down the rest of the economy.

Fixed and adjustable rate mortgage mechanics will first be introduced to provide a foundation for discussion of the mortgage securitization process. The subprime mortgage meltdown will then be examined in detail to provide course participants with a better understanding of why it had such a dramatic impact on other financial markets. The course will conclude by evaluating the Government's response to the subprime mortgage meltdown in order to assess the prospects for economic recovery. This course is sponsored by CRCBR.
